12 Colourful Dream Houses in London
London is one of the world’s liveliest towns, so it’s not a surprise that its buildings show what kind of people live there. There are brightly painted houses and buildings all over the city, from Chelsea to Notting Hill to Camden. They add a splash of colour to the place that used to be called “The Big Smoke.”
1
Bywater sTreet
The first one is Bywater Street in Chelsea, which is a quiet place. Not far from the busy King’s Road. People who use Instagram love this row of pretty pink houses, so you’ve probably seen it on your feed. No matter what, it’s very pretty and a great place for those soft colours!
2
Conduit mews
There are many of these cobblestone back streets all over London. Some of the cutest places in the city are on Mews streets. Back of them are some of the most expensive homes in the city. They used to be stables for the fancy homes that sit behind them. The most colourful mews street is Conduit Mews. It looks like someone dragged a rainbow brush along the outside of these homes!
3
Chalcot Crescent
Primrose Hill has a lot of bright, fancy, and expensive homes with beautiful outsides! Our best street here is Chalcot Crescent; it’s as happy as the bear that lived here in the story… Do you know this street? It was used to film scenes for the Paddington Bear movie. Chalcot Square is another very colourful street in Primrose Hill. It’s just around the corner.
4
Falkland Road
Kentish Town is a little farther from London, but the Northern Line makes it easy to get there. Make sure you walk back into London through Camden to see some of these lovely streets! Falkland Road is a pretty street with lots of vivid homes and interesting corners to photograph.
5
Neal’s Yard
In London, Neal’s Yard is one of our best spots. It’s in the Seven Dials neighbourhood, between Short’s Gardens and Monmouth Street. Even though it looks hidden, it’s now a pretty famous spot in the city! Try to get the whole place to yourself on a Sunday morning! These colours are reason enough to set an early alarm.
6
Neal Street
There is a hint in the names: Neal Street is right next to Neal’s Yard. That’s why it’s easy to cross two things off this list at once! There is a pretty row of shops in Seven Dials that have colours that look like they came from a sherbet box.
7
Hartland Road
Hartland Road is up in Camden, and these brightly painted houses can be found there! The buildings and design in Camden show that it is a lively part of London. You should go to Camden Market to find tasty food and interesting market shops. Also, keep an eye out for a cute umbrella alley!
8
Lancaster Road
Notting Hill has some of the brightest homes in London, and Lancaster Road, with its flashy townhouses that are often seen on Instagram, is the best example of this.
9
Kelly Street
Some people don’t think of Kentish Town as a place to visit in London, but it does have some really cute coloured houses. You can also brighten up your photos by going to Kelly Street.
10
Farm Place
A group of coloured streets can be found just south of Notting Hill Gate tube stop. My favourite is Farm Place. It’s not nearly as loud as the streets of the more famous Notting Hill neighbourhood. On either side of the road in Farm Place are pretty pastel-colored homes, and the bike above is always in the right place when I go there.
11
Godfrey Street
When you walk around Chelsea, it’s hard to miss Godfrey Street because of the wall of colour that runs along the buildings.
12
Portobello Road
When you talk about lively streets, you can’t leave out Portobello Road! People from all over the city, including people who live here, love this corner market. The market is in the upper part of the building. Along the street, there are many antique shops, and the buildings have brightly coloured designs on top of them.
